Real-time reporting of ecosystem metrics from acoustic sensors on gliders

Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) with active acoustic sensors are an effective tool for ecosystem research (Guihen et al. 2014), but scientists currently have to wait for a glider to be recovered before retrieving and analysing sensor data.

This research is looking at new ways of processing sensor data to allow real time reporting of ecosystem metrics over constrained bandwidth communication channels.
